+FTG in no way employs Garon, but he is someone that I would absolutely recommend to any company. Garon is basically the ideal Mechanical Engineer in my mind. Not only is he a competent engineer, but he is also a skilled fabricator and machinist. In my experience, it is rare for an engineer to truly understand the difficulties and labor required to take something from drawing to final product, but Garon's fabrication background gives him intricate knowledge of how each part will actually be made. The major advantage of this is that he subconsciously optimizes things for manufacture. You will never see a drawing form him with an impossible tolerance or feature. We took the same CAD classes and I even spent 5 years in a machine shop doing robotics and tool purchasing, but I would still trust his instinct over my analysis any day.
+Garon and I worked together many 40 hour weekends, leaving college after our last class Friday and getting back to the dorms late Sunday night, on our [[kb:proj:ftg:racing_simulator|senior design project]]. He took something that was literally a dimensionless sketch on a 8.5x11 to a fully working and powder coated machine in a semester. Because of my mechanical background, taking on the wiring and programming was daunting, but he achieved something I couldn't have even with quadruple the time and ten times the budget.
