I was always the kid taking things apart. No toy escaped my inquisitive mind and more often than not I was left with a half re-assembled result. It took many years and some time studying engineering to finally assemble more things than I took apart. 

The project I am most proud of is the [[kb:projects:ftg:racing_simulator|Senior Design Project]] I built while studying mechanical engineering. Our team spent a full year of sleepless weekends building a racing simulator to display at our college expo. It is the first thing I built that truly scared me. Weighing well over 350lbs, it jumped several inches off the floor while I was crouched near it sending serial commands. After that we bought a longer USB cord.

That project influenced my outlook quite a bit. I try to choose projects that incorporate some existing knowledge, but that push me to learn something new and apply it. The primary thing I disliked about schooling was the lack of application. There is nothing more satisfying than grasping a new concept and then creating something that takes advantage of that understanding. The knowledge itself is not gratifying without implementation. I do enjoy learning a lot, but only if I contextualize it with a project I am invested in.

That outlook is what drove me to create this business. I am always looking for new projects to act as catalysts for learning. My passion is solving problems.
