Bush Landworks is a small company in Northern Idaho. They run a sawmill, do logging jobs, and make cabin kits.
This was my first job that I worked over the summers and vacations while I was in high school and the first year of college. I started working as a hand for loading logs and stacking lumber, but by the end of my first summer I was running the sawmill mostly un-supervised.
This job was my first real job and it taught me a lot. Since it was usually only me and Nat, and often just me, attention to detail and safety consciousness were key. Being out of town and knowing that if a log rolls onto you that you may not be found until the next day was a good motivator.
I got to learn how to operate a sawmill, bobcat, tractor, and excavator. I also learned to manage and prioritize jobs. In total, I worked at the sawmill for about 12 months over the years and have a lot of fond memories.
After going to college, I have continued to do a few projects for them on the side.
