SimTools 3 is a piece of software that is meant to control motion simulators. It captures physics values from a large library of games and translates them into the proper movements for the configured simulator. It also has flexible output settings that work with a wide range of motion controllers.
SimTools uses 4 basic plugin types. The game plugins allow SimTools to pull data out of games. This is typically done with through TCP ports or shared memory. The axis plugins allow you to define the parameters of the physical platform by configuring axes and physical parameters. The interface plugins allow you to define custom communication protocols between SimTools and the control board. SimTools supplies an interface plugin that supports the Thanos control board we are using. The virtual plugins allow for simulating your physical platform virtually so that you can see the physical state of your platform.
There are an additional two types of plugins. The addons allow you to integrate extra tools into SimTools. The skin plugins allow you to create custom appearances.
