This is the first prototype bait for Stintzi Baits. It is a paddle tail flexible bait approximately 12 inches long and made of plastisol. It is meant to be mounted to a jig head. I spent some time working with the customer designing the body and making adjustments. To create the first version a plug was SLA printed and a shell was FDM printed. The mold was created by pouring silicone into the shell around the plug. With the plug removed, the mold is a skin mold with a supportive shell that forces the cut seam together. Silicone was selected to provide a heat resistant material to hot pour or inject plastisol into. To help with shrinkage, the part was oriented to allow the thickest section to cool last and a small cavity was left above the bait to provide extra material to be pulled into the cavity as the bait cools.
This project is waiting for the testing of the first prototype bait before design revisions and a production mold are made.
